All Our Tomorrows ©1999 and 2000 Joseph M Harrison Had you been there, you wouldve thought you were looking at a coyote. Or maybe a wolf, a bear, a tiger; and the one next to him, a cat, perhaps a lion, or maybe a kangaroo. Oddly, they appeared to be walking on their hind legs. Perhaps, they were all of those, and none. As they stood there, overlooking a small city, they watched as it slowly devoured the woods bordering it. Factories, filling the air with their foul smog. "When will they learn?" asked the one on the left. "Does it matter?" replied the one on the right, "Its too late, Mother has decided. To her they are as bacteria is to them, and like them and their bacteria when it misbehaves, Mother has learned to cure herself. She will drive them out, so as to cure herself." "I think I hear Mother calling, its time to go home." "Yes, youre right. You know, Mother has been saying, that its nearly time for us to come out and play, we wont have to just watch any longer." And with that, the two turned and began to walk away, and if you didnt know better, you would've sworn they simply disappeared.
