I.

I am... so cold

So very cold

Standing on the outside

Looking into the warm hearts of others.

I have yet to understand

My place in this world

I am so very cold

As I watch the lives unfurl...

II.

Try as you might

It is useless to fight

A sorrow in your heart

Watch, if you suppose

With Life's invisible foes,

And see terror rip you apart.

It is useless to try and heal

It is useless to love and feel

As Life's wickedness tears at your face

It is a helpless ring,

Not a kind, fruitful thing

A mistake? Ne'er the case…

Is this all there is to protect me?

A pentacle? Wait and see

True Life can ne'er be gained

Death is but a simple fear

It is transparent, yet still unclear

And another forgotten soul is therefore named.
