UseOfImages


   Well, I've been stuck in the doldrums for over a year now. Very little new 
work and not much re-work. My apologies to all who care. The blahs continue and 
may never let go. Bummer.  :-(

I have had a number of e-mails asking about colorizing or other use of some of 
my posted pictures. I have always replied, in the positive, but it seems my 
messages often don't get through. This letter is an attempt to post a general 
permissions list.

My pictures were posted to show them, of course, and perhaps to inspire other 
people to create and share their own ideas. There have been several pictures of 
mine that inspired or were redone by others, and if I can get off my duff I'll 
post them in their own directory. Someday.

On to the use of my images/ideas.

1. The ideas (actions, participants, poses, viewpoints) are general and open
   to anyone to use in drawing or writing. Specific characters are in the
   ask-first category.

2. The direct use of my files is ok as long as there are no changes in the
   image or the file name; a numeric count can be appended if there are so
   many of the same name. An extension, like .gif or .jpg, is not part of the
   name.

3. Pictures can be colored, or re-colored, as long as there are no changes in
   my lines or text. Add your own "Colored by" text to get the credit due. If
   text is added or alternate text appended, add a "Written by" line.

4. Please send me an e-mail about any off-VCL use; give a link or the URL in
   preference to copying the file itself. Each download of a file is counted
   on VCL and that helps show what's popular. Maybe I can get an internal
   push to make some more like it. Also, please e-mail me a copy of, or link
   to, images that have been colored or captioned.
